Welcome to shop class

Want to go to shop class?  Learn about tools, how to use them and how to build and fix things yourself?  Here's an opportunity to do that.  Welcome to the DIYGuy Video Shop Class.

I've been a handyman, building and fixing things since about 1987.  Earlier, if you count all the time spent helping family work on house repair and countless other projects since I was a kid.

I went to the local community college and studied general construction, tools, blueprint drafting and reading, basically, I can (and have) built whole houses and fixed just about every part of a house since then.

I've also been an instructor and trainer of some kind for the last 20 years.  I've trained truck drivers, beekeepers, wood crafters, and more over that time.  During that time, with only the exception of truck drivers, I've observed a frustration in many people in lacking tool using skills and an interest by them to be more self sufficient and capable of doing things for themselves.

In this video shop class, I'll go over a variety of tools, powered and non powered, explain how to use them, in what situations to use them (or not use them), and present methods and tips on how to build and fix things.

I don't want this to come across as a slick "I'm a professional that never makes mistakes" kind of video series.  I want you to know that I'm a regular person like everyone else and as such, you'll get to see me do things regular people do and roll with it as the video goes along.

Let's have some fun, learn some stuff and build our handy skills together as we go.  You'll see the DIYGuy Video Shop Class in two forms in YouTube.  The "Toolbox Talk" series where we talk about things ranging from tool safety and technologies related to building and fixing things as well as the "At The Worktable" series where we get our hands dirty and play with tools, hardware, materials, and a lot more.

Bring your safety glasses, eat protection, and shop apron.  We'uns gonna be busy.
